About me....

Welcome to my page!

I'm Lisbeth Samaniego, an educator with more than 32 years of experience committed to advancing equitable and research-based instruction for multilingual learners. Born in Lima, Peru, I bring a personal understanding of the challenges and opportunities emergent bilinguals encounter—an insight that has guided my career and shaped my approach to literacy and language development.

Currently serving as an English Learner Specialist in Los Angeles, California, I have held diverse roles including teacher assistant, preschool–Grade 5 teacher, Literacy Coach, mentor teacher, and Math intervention teacher. These experiences have deepened my expertise in curriculum, instruction, and leadership and my ability to support teachers and administrators in implementing effective instructional practices.

I hold a Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master’s Degree in Educational Business Administration, and a Reading Certificate. My doctoral research focused on the relationship between text reading fluency and reading comprehension for Emergent bilinguals in grades 3 and 4, grounded in the Science of Reading.
My professional mission is to leverage evidence-based strategies—particularly in word recognition and language comprehension—to address the distinct needs of emergent bilinguals and collaborate with educators to ensure all students thrive academically.
